Adults loved our portrait drawing class. We had four weeks of one hour evening session in a relaxed atmosphere with cafe music in the background. Instructions were provided as were short discussions, critiques and lots of one on one technique direction.

Ocean Bulletin Board
Buy The GREAT STUFF and some acrylic paint.

Spray a mound for the octopus' head.
Bumps are good. I added some "freckles" with a puffy paint for texture.
Spray some "legs" and coral reef-like arms:
Then paint the octopus and the reef any way you like:
Attach the pieces to fit using anything you can. It's all pretty light so this part is not difficult and neither is attaching the foam pieces to the wall board. I simply used hot glue and long skewers (ones that I use for BBQ). VIOLA!

FRANKENLAB: The Maker Space Initiative
"Makerspace" is the latest buzzword in the library world. Mainly, these spaces focus on technology and electronics, but we took a different angle on this venture. First, we put out a call to our library patrons to collect and bring us their BROKEN toys:

Our patrons told that the finally they had an excuse to do some cleaning and get their kids to throw out those old toys! Once we collected enough toys, we invited the kids to come to our FRANKENLAB.
and made TOYS!
The kids had so much fun using the tools and their imaginations
Their innovative ideas transcended anything we could have planned.
This was the best makerspace program that I have seen.
The kids learned how to be toy engineers and HAVE FUN!

We gathered them all up, provided some tools:
